A nice stretch of ears from this fall of Pioneer corn, this was very good corn overall.

Estes XPR2s made a cleaner sample, less broken kernels, less chaff, and i could pick slightly faster and use little less fuel.
The right basket had full season high management, 3 fungicides, micros, fertigation. The left basket was just production corn, same field.
Drozd Family Grain is a family farm that has been a steward in southwest Michigan for over 40 years. Jon Drozd began row crop farming full time right after high school in 1977. Jon learned most of his trades naturally as the Drozd family has roots in agriculture dating back to the mid 1940's. Today, Jon farms with his wife Melissa and his two sons, Jake and Ryan Drozd and Ryan's wife, Morgan.
DFG strives to lead in up to date farming practices taking them full scale in a large primarily corn and soybean operation. It is very important to DFG to be immersed in our local community. We hope to have an impact on not just our area, but across the country as well.

ABOUT
2023 NCGA yield contest and Michigan Soybean Yield Contest.
We were fortunate in 2023 to Have entered and won 2 classes in the National Corn Growers Association Yield contest in the state of Michigan with yields of 324.96 bushels per acre and a new personal best for us 347.38 bushel's per acre. The later being the 5th highest conventional irrigated yield in the nation! We also had a second and a third place in those respective classes. As difficult as this season has been we were blessed with some very good irrigated corn.
We also entered the Michigan Soybean Yield Contest for the first time in many years and were lucky enough to come away with a first place in the late maturity category. The beans yielded less than we had hoped due to excessive rain fall and pod shattering due to being wet/dry/wet/dry to many times in October, but they still performed well.
We use these contests to learn and use new practices to spread across more acres of our operation. We do not always make money on these plots but in the coming years that knowledge pays greatly. Fortunately in 2023 We did make a few bucks on all of our plots.
